For the owners of a nature reserve in Archidona, Ecuador, the mountain trails are part of everyday life. The Trail House carries that experience into the home, shaping the approach, interior and grounds as a sequence of paths and places to discover. Rather than separating the house from its setting, the design invites the landscape into the way it is experienced. Materials selected from locally available resources help the architecture settle into the mountainside and connect it to the reserve the owners care for.
