The Bamboo House
Archidona, Ecuador
The ancient bamboo forest beside this mountainside site in Archidona, Ecuador, became the starting point for the Bamboo House. The design explores how a home can take its character from the landscape around it, drawing on bamboo's strength, flexibility and material presence. Poured concrete formed in custom bamboo molds would carry the texture of the forest into the structure, while bamboo accents inside and out would extend that connection through the home. The result is a proposal in which material and setting tell the same story.
