The Bamboo House

The Bamboo House site is located adjacent to an ancient bamboo forest on a mountain side in Archidona, Ecuador. The design of this house was inspired by its surroundings and was meant to pay tribute to the bamboo itself. Bamboo is known for its durability, strength, and flexibility, and is also a great renewable resource. The house itself was to be constructed using poured concrete that was formed by custom made bamboo concrete forms. Bamboo was also utilized on the interior and exterior as an accent to help blend the new structure it into its natural surroundings.
